my big girl's room

What do you do when you find too many things you love for one room? You make yourself a gallery wall!  My favorite thing about a gallery wall is that the personality of each piece comes together to create something totally original and special.

These are pictures that I received for my birthday.  The one on the left is me as a baby, and the one on the right is my precious baby in the same chair feeding the same doll.  My family sure knows how to make me emotional.  One of my favorite gifts!

These are her baby socks.  There are just some newborn things I couldn't part with, so instead of storing them, I turned them into art.  They are clothes pinned to a piece of wire glued to the back of a painted frame.

You'll probably recognize the other framed picture; it's from the popular children's book, Love You Forever.  Don't worry, I didn't cut it out :).  I printed it off and used sticker letters.

This is my favorite place in the house.  Our chair.  We slept here, we nursed here, we sang here, we cried here, we snuggled here.  This is our spot.  And on days when my big girl seems to be growing up a little too fast, I wrap her up in that blue blanket, hum her favorite songs, and hold her tight as her eye lids flutter.  I kiss her squishy cheeks and try to tuck away this moment as I lay her down and tuck her in her big girl bed.  Ah, this will always be my favorite place.

The tote is the first purchase I made for the room.  I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but I knew I loved it.  It inspired the color scheme for the room and now serves as a bedtime book holder.

Behind the rocker is a height chart.  Every year we will measure her and ask her what she wants to be when she grows up.  This year she wants to be a mommy and a babysitter to rock the babies.  Also, yes my 2 year old is tall, but not quite this tall.  I may have accidentally measured her in Cinderella slippers :)

This dresser once donned zebra print wallpaper and red paint.  I promise you it was cool (at least I thought it was cool...) After some heavy sanding it has been covered in a soft Hazel color.  I spray painted to top shelf with the gold stripe.  The other three drawers have chevron wall stickers from Target.  This is probably my favorite upcycled piece in my house.

These two pictures are big girl's grandmas.  They are very special to her and she loves looking at them.  The bottom one is her grandma at 3 years old.  So sweet!

The fabric for these curtains is from Hobby Lobby.  Chevron of course!  I used Cricut cut hearts from her 2nd birthday to create a garland for her window by sewing the paper together. Did you know you could sew paper?  Crazy huh!

The bed table is a garage sale find that I painted with homemade chalk paint.  That tutorial is coming soon!

The two pictures are from Hobby Lobby, and the one that is difficult to read is Jeremiah 1: 5 "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart."  :)

This  table allows her to exercise her desire to "do it myself!"  Something she's been declaring since she could talk.  Click this picture to read more about God's grace when we are all too similar to our independent toddlers.
