To those of us who work. hard. To those of us with daily chore lists, grocery lists, and cleaning lists, those juggling office hours and pumping schedules, nap schedules and feeding times. Those of us who know the laundry will be done in thirty minutes and the dishwasher in fifteen and somehow manage to get clothes folded, dishes stacked, family fed, and children bathed before 8:00. To those of us squeezing our energy out of the last half hour of the day to spend quality time with our spouse. Whether your work takes you out of the home or keeps you in, it’s exhausting. And sometimes that exhausting, list driven life unfortunately sneaks into our faith walk. We sometimes see church as another chore and if we get a prayer in before bed, then check that off the list, success.

But dear children of God, I have good news for you. Your walk with Christ should not be exhausting; it should be exhilarating! Your walk with Christ has NO to dos, nothing you can accomplish that makes you closer to your maker, that makes you a better Christian at the end of the day because HE HAS DONE IT ALL. Put away your “Jesus checklist”; you can do nothing. Sit down in his presence, in his word and be energized by His joy, His peace, His rest. Let your grateful heart for his sacrificial love lead you to live your hectic, hardworking life with a smile on your face, with His kindness in your words, with a peace that others can’t deny.
