To Daddies of Little Girls

To the daddy of my little girl,

Sometimes I bet you wonder how much our little girl needs you; you’re not the meal maker or the bath giver; you’re not her first choice for bedtime. And I’m sure those things seem important right now, and maybe they make your heart sad, but I want to remind you how much she really needs you. You are the only one who can be her father; the one person who holds the only earthly place where she is able to identify with the Heavenly Father’s love. The love that makes her feel valuable and beautiful. The love that makes her feel safe and protected. That is a daddy’s love.

So when she calls my name at bedtime, remember you will be the one she calls when life needs fixed, her heart is broken, her faith is shaken. That is when a daddy’s hug and love remind her that she is loved by a greater and almighty Father. And when you hold her hand, she’ll be reminded who holds her life, and that is something only you can do!

Note: Little girls who do not have eartly daddies involved can find examples of Godly men in other family members or friends. They can find comfort in knowing that their Father in heaven is the provider of true love fulfilling any role that might be missing from absent parents.
